About the Department/School/Area
Hospitality and Retail Management department is one of seven departments in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Over 400 students study in Restaurant, Hotel, & Institutional Management (RHIM), Apparel Design and Manufacturing (ADM), and Retail Management programs. The Department offers Bachelor of Science Degrees and Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in Event Management, Fashion Merchandising, and Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Retail Management and Apparel Design and Manufacturing. The Department also offers an in-person and online Master's Degree in Hospitality and Retail Management, and a Ph.D. program in Hospitality, Tourism, and Retail Management. The RHIM program is accredited by Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration, and the ADM program is accredited by National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
Major/Essential Functions
In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.
As a faculty member in the Department of Hospitality, Fashion Design, and Retail Management of the College of Health and Human Sciences, you will be expected to: 1) contribute to the teaching mission of the department; 2) mentor graduate students; 3) engage in undergraduate research; 4) develop a record of peer-reviewed/funded research; 5) provide service to the department, college, and university, discipline, and community; 6) participate in program development; 7) create, and maintain strong industry relationships.

Faculty Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) (or earn a Ph.D. by August 31, 2027) in fashion merchandising, retailing, or closely related degree.
- Candidates must have a demonstrated record of instruction which can be evidenced through online and/or in-person instruction. Experience as a teaching assistant or graduate student instructor can fulfill this requirement.
- Candidates must have a demonstrated record of research and/or research funding in the areas of retailing and fashion merchandising and closely associated topics (including hospitality and apparel design and manufacturing and technology) which can be evidenced through publications, presentations, grant writing and/or awards (both internal and external).
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Demonstrated history of fashion merchandising and/or retail industry experience
- Demonstrated high quality in teaching (evidenced by positive teaching evaluations, teaching awards, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment
