JOB SUMMARY

The department of Marketing at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) invites applications for a tenure-track position subject to funding. Rank is open with Assistant Professor preferred, beginning August 2022.

AREA OF SPECIALIZATION: Emphasis in hospitality management with the ability to teach such courses in hotel operations, service management, event management, tourism management, revenue management and technology-related topics such as the Internet of Things (loT), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Hotel Operations Tactics and Strategy (HOTS) simulation.

The successful candidate will join an intellectually stimulating and innovative academic environment that embraces diversity. The incumbent must have demonstrated teaching excellence and an ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction. The preferred candidate will have knowledge of a breadth of hospitality practices as well as critical theory. New faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities/meetings that support the University's and The Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration's strategic plan.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

The incumbent is expected to provide innovative and cutting-edge teaching at the undergraduate and master's level and evidence or the potential for a strong publication record in hospitality management and/or a promising stream of research. It is also expected that the successful candidate will play an active role in maintaining and developing student engagement in the hospitality management curriculum, oversee internships, advise students in the various concentrations offered by the department, and serve on department, college, and university-wide committees. We are seeking candidates who have a passion for working with the Director in developing the new Hospitality Management program, promoting a research environment within the department, and supporting University, JHBC, and Marketing strategic goals, which include student success and partnerships with the community to enhance the social, economic, and cultural conditions of the region and beyond. Primary teaching assignment will be at the Palm Desert campus and may include teaching at the San Bernardino campus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • By the appointment date, candidates for this full-time position must possess an earned doctorate in Hospitality or closely-related field with coursework and publications in Marketing. Industry experience is required.


PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years teaching experience

  • Two years management work experience in hospitality

  • An emerging track record of scholarship in the hospitality field

  • Experience advising student organizations

  • Evidence of industry partnerships

  • Earned doctorate from a AACSB or ACPHA accredited university
