Salary for Announcement: The salary ranges for this position are $70,600 $80,000 at Assistant Professor level or $80,000 98,000 at Associate Professor level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training. The above salary ranges represent the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the ranges of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary:
This is a Cat I position in the Rita & Navin Dimond Department of Hotel Management within the School of Hospitality with a focus on teaching, advising, scholarship, and service. This position is responsible for cultivating a learning environment for industry-bound students, as well as those students who wish to pursue graduate studies. Additionally, interaction with members of the professional community through ongoing liaison and participation in local and national chapters of major event and meeting professional associations, will be an ongoing responsibility.

Duties/Responsibilities:
This position requires teaching courses in the required curriculum for the BS in Event and Meeting Management degree, which include Event Project Planning, Event Catering Systems, Trade Show and Exhibition Management, Special Event Production, Event and Meeting Contracting, Corporate Meetings, Global Meetings and Events, Event Support Systems (utilization of current meeting and event technology), Advanced Planning, and Risk Management. The successful candidate will teach up to 12 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring), which may include teaching evening and/or online classes. The instructor will combine classroom learning with experiential learning, and will effectively integrate technology (internet, social media, and teaching online) into course work, applied research, and advising. The instructor will advise at the undergraduate level, actively serve as faculty advisor to student organizations, provide service to the university and community, and fulfill other assigned duties as requested by the Department Chair.

The successful candidate must be student-oriented and possess strong leadership skills conducive to building premier undergraduate and graduate programs within the Dimond department.

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree or ABD at the time of appointment (Degrees must be in Hospitality Management, Hospitality Administration or related field).
  • Previous industry related experience.





Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years industry relevant experience
  • Active membership in at least one national/international professional event or meeting association.
  • 3 years teaching or training experience both classroom-based and online, with preference given to candidates with evidence of successful teaching in an institution of higher education.
  • Current and valid Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or/and Certification in Meeting Management (CMM) designation.
  • Experience planning meetings, conventions, or trade shows outside North America.
