Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for a Lecturer position in the School of Hospitality. This is full time, 9-month faculty contract position beginning August 2023. The School of Hospitality houses four degree programs and proudly provides a robust educational experience that balances critical thinking, operational knowledge, and industry preparation. This position is responsible for cultivating a learning environment for industry-bound students, as well as those students who wish to complete a degree or certificate. The position will assist with curricular development, including development of a culinary program. The successful candidate will be responsible for ongoing excellence in teaching and advising and will maintain a working relationship with the staff of the SpringHill Suites by Marriott.

Responsibilities

The candidate will teach up to 15 credit hours per fall and spring semesters and will help with curricular design for culinary classes and workshops, which may involve work over summer (for supplemental pay). The position includes development and teaching of cooking, baking, kitchen management, and related courses, and will work with food and beverage faculty. This position will help also with events as needed (some events may occur on evenings or weekends). Candidate should demonstrate the ability to work with and interact with colleagues and a diverse group of faculty and students.

Required Qualifications

Earned Master's degree in a related field with six years of industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience; program development; nutrition and dietetics background preferred

Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $73,000 at Lecturer level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training. This is a 9-month contract, but additional teaching may be available for additional compensation during the summer session.
